Sensors, Biosystems, & Analytics Converge Wrap-Up

The much-anticipated event, cohosted by IConS, the ASSIST Center, and NC-VVIRAL was held September 28 and 29, 2023 at NC State University and featured an impressive slate of world-renowned speakers, panels comprised of industry professionals, researchers, students, and NC State alumni, and a poster session with over 30 entries, focusing on a wide variety of sensor technologies.

Truly an interdisciplinary look at the potential of sensors in our everyday lives, attendees learned about applications from plant phenotyping to smart fabrics and clothing to cancer detection and treatment in underserved communities and so many more.

Industry and commercialization professionals shared best practices for getting technology to market and spoke about the resources available at NC State University for researchers and for industry partners who want to work with us.

NC RIoT executive director Tom Snyder presented and sat on a panel at the event, and had some insightful things to say on WRAL TechWire about the collaborative ecosystem cultivated here at NC State and how well it pairs with North Carolina’s increase in semiconductor manufacturing investment.

Event organizers Alper Bozkurt, Ravi Chilukuri, Michael Daniele, Stefano Menegatti, and Veena Misra curated a top-notch agenda of speakers, panels, and group activities. The final day of this information-packed event culminated with the release of IConS’ Request for Proposals for Collaborative Seed Research Projects in Sensors, Sensing, and Analytical Systems.
